Introduction

Welcome to Leeds Sands, a local branch of national charity Sands (the stillbirth and neonatal death charity) Charity No. 299769

We are a group of bereaved parents who provide support for bereaved parents and families who have suffered the death of a baby either before, during, or shortly after birth.

The support we provide is free of charge and is open to all bereaved parents, their families and friends, no matter how long ago the loss occurred.

We work with and promote the three core aims of Sands as a national charity, which are:

  • Support anyone affected by the death of a baby

  • Work in partnership with health professionals to improve  the quality of care and services offered to bereaved families and

  • Promote research and changes in practice that could help to reduce the loss of babies' lives

Leeds Sands covers a wide area, including (but not exclusively) Bradford, Harrogate, Pontefract and Wakefield. You don't have to live in Leeds for our support.  We also have close links with hospitals in Yorkshire and provide support and information to Health Professionals as well as parents and their families.

Leeds Sands offers the following support:
